Laura Linney's performance of weak and yet powerful characters has helped make her one of the top American actors. Linney was born to a single, unmarried mother who worked as a nurse. Her interest in theatre during the summers spent with her famous father. She studied acting in Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Her Broadway career soon after completing her degree, and then made her TV debut in the next year. Since then, she has appeared appearing in a variety of films, TV productions and stage shows. There have been numerous awards during her professional career. These include four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. However, in spite of all the awards she has received the theatre is still her passion first and foremost. She has continued to appear both on stage and screen.
